Elementary school project

From the 20th of March till the 7th of April 2006 I had a practical at the elementary school Grossgründlach, which is a couple kilometers away from where I live, but it still belongs to Nuremberg.
I did the practical together with Katja, a friend from high school and now studying with me. Here she is:

Katja, who is studying with me

Because a university lecturer was coming to see us teaching in class, we wanted to do something special. Katja did a lesson on contour lines (Höhenlinien) and I did an English lesson on food, more specifically on sandwiches.
Therefore I needed paperboard sandwiches, so the kids could order their own sandwiches and use the English vocabulary like cucumbers, tomatoes, cheese, ham...

Here is an exemplar:

Because I didn't have much time to do that all alone, I had help - my knight in shining armor - Lolo!!!
He helped me to make an English dialogue, in which kids where ordering sandwiches at Mr. Tucker's sandwich bar. His voice as Mr. Tucker is one-of-a-kind!
He also helped me to cut out the paperboard ingredients for the sandwich and to color out picture cards.

For that you deserve a big THANK YOU!!! Without you I wouldn't have finished it in due time.

Here he is eating one of those delicious sandwiches. Don't worry, he didn't die of starvation. I gave him real food as well ;)

At the end the lesson was a great achievement and the university lecturer was sold on Katja and me likewise.

Here a photo of me teaching those 9 to 11 year old children. I did a song with them about ladybirds, which teached them the numbers from 1 to 100 in English.

Snowboard weekend 25/26.02.2006

Hey guys!
Guess what! I went snowboarding last weekend and it was not even far away from my hometown. Lo (my friend) and I drove about 30 minutes to a little place called Osternohe, where they have a hill and a ski lift. It is not a huge skiing area but to have a little fun and to try something new it is great.
5 years ago it was my first time standing on a snowboard and with a teacher telling me how to do it everything went well. This weekend was my second time snowboarding and I have to say I didn't forget everything. Of course, I fell once or twice (ok ok, a couple more times and I got a lot of bruises) but at the end I drove down the hill with more curves and less falls than in the beginning.
I had a task as well - to teach Lo how to snowboard (as if I was a professional *g*). We just watched the better boarders how they did it and copied their style. I think we did it well. Lo would say we are the "Lords of the Boards" (Hey Luz! -> Guano Apes).
Back in Nuremberg we were hungry, so we went to Subways (yes, we have it too but just at the central station). And our sore muscles were killing us, so I had the brilliant idea to do a little massage session (Lo, I hope next time you have real massage oil *g*).
That was my funny weekend!!!! To round it off I got a couple pics for you:
